Summer Camp Frequently Asked Questions 2020

Q: Can I drop my kids off before camp and pick up at 4 pm?
A: Yes the kids can be dropped off early and picked up late, however we cannot guarantee that they will be directly supervised before 9 am and after 4 pm. The coaching staff will be on site before and after camp start and end times but will not be directly watching over the Ragnot Room. The kids are welcome to hang out in the Ragnot Room, and will be safe there in the morning and afternoon.

Q: Where do we meet Monday Morning?
A: On the first day of camp at 9 am we will meet in the front lobby of the club where you will meet the coaches and get checked in for the week. We will collect your Liability waivers, lunch order forms and receive a camp shirt. Laura the Sailing Director will be there to answer any questions you may have.

Q: Can I stay and watch my child sail?
A: Yes, we would love you to see the progress you sailor is making but we do not want your presence to be distraction. We encourage you to watch from a distance.

Q: Will there be pictures of the week?
A: Yes, all pictures will be posted on our Facebook page. We try to create an album for each camp so you can save your favorites.

Q: Do I need an HYC Membership for my child to attend summer camps?
A: For kids of ages 8-18 they need to be under a Family Membership or have their own Student Membership. Contract Laura for more info on memberships.

Q: During Overnight Camp are meals provided?
A: Yes all meals during Overnight camp are provided, most kids also bring snacks to munch on and share throughout the week.

Q: Are meals provided for Opti Day Camps and Summer Fun Camp?
A: No, Monday and Tuesday of day camps you will need to bring your own lunch. Wednesday through Friday you have the option to order lunch from the club. Lunch order forms for the week will be collected Monday morning during check in. You can fill out the form ahead of time; you can find the form in the Helpful Links section.

Q: Do I need to have my own boat?
A: You do not need your own boat for the following Camps, but are welcome to bring one: Summer Fun Camp, Mini/Orange level sailors in Opti Day Camp, Spring Break Fun Camp and Overnight Camp. If you are a Green or RWB sailor you will need to charter a boat from the club for Opti Day Camp.

Q: What are the camp registration Deadlines?
A: If there is available space in the camp you can register all the way up to the week of camp, however you are subject to a $50 late fee for registrations after May 31st.

Q: Is there a sibling discount?
A: For siblings in the same session of the same camp there is a $25 discount.
