Need More Fun . . . Here It Is!

Bridge Players at HYC

The Usual Suspects may be the most laid-back group at Houston Yacht Club. This disorganized group of mostly retired (not retarded) men meets for lunch in the HYC clubhouse on the first Wednesday of each month. There are no officers, no programs, no agenda, no committees, no speeches and no rules. They do nothing but eat and swap yarns.

The group began meeting a number of years ago at the suggestion of P/C Bob Middleton, but no one can remember when. They have no membership fees or dues or benefits. Everyone pays for his own lunch. There is no contact person, telephone number or e-mail address. The Usual Suspects appeal to no one and can think of no reason why anyone would want to join the group, but if you do, just call the Club office at (281) 471-1255 and make a reservation for lunch on the first Wednesday of each month. The Usual Suspects will welcome you to the group.

Bridge Players at HYCHYC offers several opportunities for members who like to play Bridge. One group plays every Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in the lounge area next to the dining room. This group welcomes new members but requires reservations in advance so they can assure 4 players to a table. If you are interested in joining this group, click here.

The HYC Ladies Association sponsors a Games Day on the fourth Wednesday of each month. The bridge players gather at 10:30 a.m. in the second-floor lounge area, break for lunch at noon, and continue playing until 3 p.m. For more information about this group, click here.
