Sailing Seminars & Camps at HYC

Get More Done on the Water

HYC members can expand their on-the-water experience by attending seminars instructed by experienced sailors and race committee personnel.

Racing Rules of Sailing, which is designed for beginners and persons new to racing, is usually conducted in January.

Introduction to Race Committee is also held in January. Aimed at members who want to help with race committee work, it features a classroom session and on-the-water orientation in a Club committee boat (weather permitting).

The Women’s Sailing Association sponsors a Big Boat Seminar each Spring for the women of the Club who want to learn more about sailing and crewing on boats of 30 or more feet in length.

USSailing periodically holds seminars on race management at HYC, giving HYC members an opportunity to maintain or improve their credentials as race officials.

HYC’s Youth Activities Committee provides many opportunities throughout the year for member’s children to learn to sail or improve their skills.

Windward Bound Camp provides sailing instruction for HYC women each year.
