PATH FORWARD COMMITTEE OF THE HOUSTON YACHT CLUB
Progress Report #9 - Beachcomber Volunteer Work Party
November 12, 2008
Greetings:
This Saturday is the Beachcomber Volunteer Day you have all been
waiting for!!
The pilings are driven, the headers are on, lumber and other materials
are on order, and installation of the stringers will start on Friday.
So, this Saturday morning, starting at 7:30 a.m., we need as many
volunteers as possible to muster in the breezeway by the Porthole for
further instructions.
Here are the few items you will need:
Gloves
Battery-operated drill of the 18-volt and up size
(we cannot accommodate corded power tools)
Extra batteries for your drill
Please have all of your tools labeled with your name. There will be
many duplicates and we want everybody to be able to leave with the
tools they brought.
Experienced construction crewmen will be provided by Robert Williams,
general contractor. These people are being paid to be on site and to
supervise all of the volunteers. So, please heed their instructions and
guidance.
Site and individual safety will be our #1 concern. If you have a hard
hat, bring it with you and wear
it.
Our objective on Saturday will be to lay down a sufficient amount of
decking so that the Beachcomber can be used for the Turkey Day Regatta
the following weekend. Let's see how much we can get done.
Coffee will be provided by the Club.
On behalf of the Path Forward Committee,
John
Peter
